Opelika has a history of organized soccer stretching back to the late 1970’s. It all started when John Drew arrived in Opelika, from London, and began laboring to organize a soccer team from his new home on 10th street. From these humble beginnings arose a passion for the development of the game within the Opelika community and it is with this desire in mind that The Opelika Soccer Association has reemerged. With strong support and cooperation from The Opelika Parks and Rec we are proud to announce that Opelika is offering competitive club soccer once again!
PLAYING PHILOSOPHY
Our club believes in playing a style of soccer that emphasizes ball possession, with attacks built up from the back. Aimless kicking, kick-and-chase, and over reliance on physical play are discouraged. Our teams will strive to exhibit good support play around the ball and show both patience and composure on the ball.
CLUB CURRICULUM
Our club recognizes that an integrated, club-wide curriculum is the key for optimum player development. There must be a line that connects U-6 to U-19, a line that everyone in the club understands and follows. Without a curriculum, the players develop skill gaps, and a deficit in one stage of the development process will tend to inhibit acquisition of more complex skills at a later stage.
The Opelika Crush Soccer Club is fully committed to providing a reasonably priced competitive soccer program to the area of Lee County Alabama. Our staff strives to develop the technical aspects of soccer among our players while cultivating a soccer culture within our community. From our humble roots in Floral Park to our beautiful new home at the James Samford Soccer Complex we endeavor to keep the ball rolling in Opelika!
